Day 1: agree what the visit actually includes
Arrive in Rongjiang and use the first day to confirm the local visit. Ask for the village name, host, pickup point, agreed cost and whether a music session is actually arranged. Distinguish a village walk, an informal conversation and a public performance. Do not build an itinerary on the promise that residents will sing when tourists arrive. Keep the county town as a practical base unless the village accommodation and access have been clearly confirmed.
Day 2: Dali, the Guizhou village
Save the full name 榕江大利侗寨. This is not Dali city in Yunnan, and our existing Dali PDF covers the Yunnan destination. A background report discusses Dali Dong village in relation to local architecture and public-art projects. Use the visit to observe paths, timber buildings and shared spaces from permitted public areas. Ask before photographing people or entering a home. Contemporary public projects described in older reporting should be checked locally rather than assumed to operate unchanged.
Day 3: Zaidang and a listening encounter
Choose Zaidang for a second village day, with a music encounter only if it has been confirmed. The background report associates the village with Grand Song activity; that is context, not a performance calendar. Watch the UNESCO documentary beforehand and ask your host how best to behave. If there is no music session, the route can still be about architecture, settlement and local everyday life. If music is arranged, pay the agreed fee and ask permission before making a recording.
Travel without a promised spectacle
Arrange the return transport before each outing and account for weather and uneven village paths. Do not improvise cross-country walking between villages from a straight line on a map. A local interpreter may add more value than another destination. Confirm their role and fee. The practical route is deliberately small: two village visits and time to understand the terms of access. It is an editorial proposal, not a package tour or a guarantee of cultural performances.
